The Production Services Branch is comprised of the Remote Production Services Section and the Production Data Control Section. The Production Data Control Section monitors the integrity of patent classification data, including classification data changes and problems. The Section maintains the US Master Patent Classification (USPC) and Subclass data files for U.S. Patent grants, U.S. Pre-Grant Publications, International Patent Classification (IPC), and Foreign Patents, which are used by multiple systems, such as East, West, PIRS, AIRS, CSS, CPC, and etc. Also maintains Cooperative Patent Classifications (CPC) symbols, allocations, and exceptions.
The Section maintains the authority files used to publish the Manual of Classification, the Index to the U.S. Patent Classification System, and various classification data files and reports. The Section also operates and maintains the utilities to aid in the processing and exchange of data between a myraid of entities including the staff within the OCIO, Patent Business Area, the International liaison staff, other offices within the USPTO, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Additionally, the Section is responsible for executing numerous procedures for processing classification data, updating designated databases in order to produce various reports identifying the status outcome of the data to ensure integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the data and database updates.
This position is the Section Supervisor for the Production Data Control Section.
