This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, Office of the Commissioner, Office of the Chief Scientist, Immediate Office, Office of Regulatory Science and Innovation, Silver Spring, Maryland.

At the full performance level of this position, the incumbent will serve as a scientific and/or regulatory program manager and as a Agency point of contact for the coordination of assigned policy and program activities.
In incumbent will manage the short and long range plans related to his/her program elements within the Office of Regulatory Science and Innovation (ORSI).
Contributes to and fully participates in the decision making processes, meetings, and discussions concerning program projects, functions, and activities both in strategic planning and in the functions and activities related to his/her program elements,including the actual determination, allocation and administration of the program projects and associated resource support.
Independently conducts reviews, evaluations, and assessments of the scientific and regulatory issues related to assigned portfolio and prepares a variety of comprehensive scientific status reports, management summaries, and briefing papers providing oversight and input in identifying problems, solutions and recommendations for his/her program elements, as well as reviewing technical progress reports.
Initiates, coordinates, and responds to requests for inter- and intra-Agency cooperation on his/her program elements.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the scientific issues, as well as administrative and program management principles and skills to carry out the mission of the Agency and the ORSI.
Address and solve unusual and often precedent setting problems associated with adherence to the methods, policies and practices of sound organizational management and efficient resource utilization as it pertains to his/her program elements.
