Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- receiving reports of fire, disasters, hazardous work standbys to dispatch appropriate fire apparatus, ambulance, police, and designated personnel to the scene
- determining the priority of responses in order to relay that information to public safety units
- operating a communications console to provide information to callers.
Having successfully completed four years of education above the high school level in any field from an accredited college or university.
Having some specialized experience as described above, but less than one year, and having more than two years but less than four years of education as described above.

This position has promotion potential to the GS-06 grade. If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. The incumbent will be required to successfully complete a 4-week training academy on police, fire, and ambulance protocols, which includes certification from the National/International Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch and is required to obtain a minimum of 24 hours continuing dispatch education every two years. You will also be evaluated during on-the-job training prior to final certification.
The incumbent must be able to work rotating shifts, nights, Sundays, holidays, and overtime when required to meet minimum manning requirements.
The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I & II and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification.
