JOB SUMMARY:

The mission of the Army Athletic Association is to provide an extraordinary Division I Athletic experience that develops leaders of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country.

 

Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premier performing arts center, and recreational facilities such as an 18-Hole Golf Course and Ski Slope.

As a Communications Assistant for Army Athletic Association performs technical duties that include designing and writing brochures and media guides, writing weekly press releases, compiling team statistics and records, reporting to the Patriot League, assisting with game day and press box operations, aiding with the daily maintenance of Army's official Web site and assisting the office manager with various administrative duties. Serves as the primary media relations contact for several intercollegiate athletic programs with emphasis on Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Track and Field, Print Football and Men's Tennis.

Works closely with the multi-media staff, the "A" Club, development staff and sports marketing staff.

Two years of experience in a collegiate sports information office as well as a broad-based knowledge of Division 1 athletics and NCAA regulations. Strong organizational skills, solid writing ability and working knowledge of IBM compatible computers. Adobe in Design, Adobe Photo Shop and PageMaker 7.0 are required. Familiarity with Stat Crew statistical packages is desired.


Conditions of employment:

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.
