NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIREDThis is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

 

This position is located in the Human Resources Office.  The primary purpose of the position is to provide limited technical assistance to Human Resources Specialists within the office and to managers, supervisors, and technicians of the serviced organization for a wide range of human resources matters.

 

DUTY LOCATION :   JFHQ-VA-J1, Sandston, VA 23150

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS :  Excepted Service Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E6/SSG)

 

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I
- All qualified Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E6/SSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.

 

GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E6/SSG), regardlessof employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in theVirginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

MILITARY CRITERIA:  Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows:  E: MOS:   42A

 

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT :   Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Processes a wide range of human resources transactions related to recruitment and placement, classification, employee relations, human resource development, and/or incentive awards. Provides technical assistance in the area of recruitment and placement.   Assists classification specialist by performing job audits and making classification determinations on a variety of clerical, and technical occupations (GS-07 and below) and Wage Grade occupations where standards clearly apply. Provides technical assistance in executing the employee relations program.   Provides assistance to the Human Resources Development Specialist.   Serves as Executive Secretary for the employee recognition awards program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws.  Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions.  Experience performing personnel transactions.  Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.  


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   High school graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for 3 months of specialized experience.   Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of one academic year of study (i.e. 36 weeks of substantially full time study, or 30 semester hours, or the equivalent) for 12 months of the required experience.   For experience required in excess of 24 months, education in schools above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of education for 6 months.

- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

- Selectee may be subject to a one-year probationary/trial period.

- Possess or be able to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance.
