Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07,08,09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
GS-07: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector serving as a Firefighter and/or Paramedic providing fire protection and advanced life support, hazardous materials operations; and operating fire and medical equipment. GS-08: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector serving as a Firefighter and Paramedic providing fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency operations to include structural firefighting, emergency medical service, hazardous materials responses, disaster response/control and recovery, and confined space rescue. GS-09: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector serving as a Firefighter and Paramedic providing fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency operations to include structural firefighting, emergency medical service, hazardous materials responses, airfield fire control, vegetation and environmental management, disaster response/control and recovery, and confined space rescue and public education. Certified as a California state licensed Paramedic and/or National Registry Paramedic.
Certified as DoD, NFPA, IFSAC, or ProBoard Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, driver/operation Pumper, Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), Aerial.
Entry-level parenthetical medical firefighters (paramedic) levels must successfully complete any and all required training, to include being DoD certified at the Firefighter I and II levels and Airport Firefighter level, if applicable, within a maximum of 24 months.
A pre-appointment physical examination is required.
Position may require occasional travel of 1 to 7 days a month
This position requires the incumbent to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
The work requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid drivers license is required.
Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
May be required to participate on Hazardous Materials Teams (HAZMAT).
May be required to perform duties associated with the operations of aircraft arresting barrier equipment.
