JOB SUMMARY:

POSITION DETAILS: Starting Salaries: (May be adjusted for Present/Former Federal Employees)
Title 38: Salary may range from $104,458.00 to $295,000.

Recruitment Incentives: Incentives may include a recruitment or relocation incentive up to 25% (subject to eligibility and approval) and Supplemental or National Student Loan Repayment incentives.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are authorized and will be paid. You will be required to sign a one year service agreement. Failure to fulfill the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses.

DUTY LOCATIONS:

ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS); HOSPITALS:  Claremore and Lawton in Oklahoma.

Future Appointments: May be Permanent, Temporary, or Term with tour of duty of Full-Time, Part-Time or Intermittent. The Agency has option of extending Term appointments for up to a maximum of four years. Temporary positions NTE 12 months or less are subject to termination at any time. The Agency has option of extending Temporary position appointments for up to a maximum of two years.

  • Conducts clinical examinations of patients assigned.
  • Performs major and minor surgical operations on the integumentary, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary and skeletal systems.
  • Fully responsible for the decision to operate, when to operate and all technical operative procedures.
  • Consults with other surgeons and physicians on surgical problems.
  • Oversees the pre-operative treatment of the patient, as needed administration of anesthesia and post operative treatments.

Applicants must possess and provide documentation of the following basic requirements:

A Degree as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).] Must submit official or unofficial copy of transcripts showing doctorate degree conferred. If applicable, must supply ECFMG or fifth pathway certificate.

AND

Residency Certification: At least 5 years of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 5-year internship or five years of a residency program in Surgery in an institution accredited for such training). Include only those internships, residencies, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Must submit copies of internship, residency, and/or fellowship certificates totaling five years.

Applicants that are currently enrolled in their 5th year of internship, residency, or fellowship program and are within 9 months or less of graduation may be referred out. In this circumstance applicants must submit a letter from their internship, residency, or fellowship program stating they are in good standing and their expected graduation date.

AND

Medical License: A current, non-temporary, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

First notification : Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
