JOB SUMMARY:

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED :  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

 

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters—State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. Responsible for supervising workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function.  

 

DUTY LOCATION:   MATES, Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA   23824

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Excepted Service Male/Female Commissioned Officers (NTE 03/CPT) and Warrant Officers (WO1/W1 - W5/CW5) 

 

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I
- All qualified Male/Female Commissioned Officers (NTE 03/CPT) and Warrant Officers (WO1/W1 - W5/CW5) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.

 

GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Commissioned Officers (NTE 03/CPT) and Warrant Officers (WO1/W1 - W5/CW5), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

 

MILITARY CRITERIA:  Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows: O: BR:  88A, 90A, 91A, 92A; WOBR: 25, 91, 92, 94; MOS: 882A

 

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:  Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.  Performs the non-supervisory work of the function, as needed, such as performing maintenance and/or inspection tasks on equipment, equipment operations, or other non-supervisory functions. Ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures established for the activity. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. 

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems.   Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.


- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

- Selectee may be subject to a one-year probationary/trial period.

- Possess or be able to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance.
