WHO MAY APPLY:

(1) Arkansas Army National Guard (AR ARNG) Technicians; (2) All members of the AR ARNG/ANG, (3) Individuals who are not members of the National Guard but who are eligible to acquire membership in an available and compatible military grade for excepted technician positions. (Upon selection, must be a member of the Army National Guard).

JOB SUMMARY:

ARKANSAS NATIONAL GUARD 

MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT:  Warrant Officer, Not to Exceed WO1; Enlisted

NOMINATING OFFICIAL: CW2 Quentin Edwards, Surface Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

DUTY LOCATION:  Field Maintenance Shop 1 (FMS 1), Jonesboro, AR

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:  This is an Excepted (Dual Status Military Technician) position that requires active membership in a compatible skill in the Arkansas Army National Guard.  Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard and be assigned to a compatible military position  in Warrant Officer Branch(WOBR) 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 91, 92, 94, Warrant Military Occupational Specialty (WMOS) 882A/Career Management Field (CMF) 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, 94.  Must become compatible within 12 months of appointment. 

IMPORTANT NOTES (AS APPLICABLE):  Upon selection for this position, individual must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.  A favorable determination based upon investigative results is mandatory for this position.  Failure to meet these requirements will result in termination of employment.  A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.  Upon selection, must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment (if applicable, training will be coordinated by the supervisor).  Individual  must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion, as determined by the Human Resources Office (HRO).

Inspects a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment (i.e., combat, tactical, etc.)  and automotive vehicles (i.e., attack tanks, large cranes, tank retrievers, fire trucks, bridge transporters, armored vehicle launched bridges, bulldozers, road graders, crawler tractors, power shovels, self propelled earth compacting equipment, self propelled artillery,etc.).  Inspects complex, interrelated mechanical,hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition.   Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed.  Serves as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT).  Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Must have 18 months experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems.

PLACEMENT FACTORS:   Applicants should demonstrate through prior experience, education and training the following:   (1) Ability to apply a wide variety of complex inspection techniques to examine a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment(i.e., combat, tactical, etc.).   (2)  Ability to inspect complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition.  (3) Ability to operate a large variety of test equipment, some of which is specially designed to test complex interrelated mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems.  (4) Ability to use specially designed testing methods and test equipment such as computerized test sets, precision gauges, electronic sensors, injector test stands, engine scopes, etc.   (5)  Completion of training in automotive maintenance field.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This position with the Arkansas National Guard is a Title 32 USC 709 position, not Title 5, and as such has different Reduction In Force (RIF) criteria, certain grade and promotion limitations, and no Veterans Preference.  Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer of Civilian Pay is required as a condition of employment/promotion/reassignment.  Initial in-processing of new employees will include enrollment procedures.  Permanent Change of Station (PCS) may be authorized in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
