The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for position(s) in DDESS Schools. This vacancy announcement may be used for the purpose of filling multiple temporary, intermittent, on-call seasonal positions for the School Year 2013/2014.

The purpose of this position is to provide instructional services to students, grades Kindergarten-12, as a substitute for the regular teacher. 

You must be fluent in English (spoken & written) to be eligible for this position.

Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university AND possess a current, valid teaching certificate will be appointed to the Substitute Teacher, Level 1, position.  They may earn $17.25 to $30.40 per hour.

Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university will be appointed to the Substitute Teacher, Level 2, position.  They will earn $15.38 per hour.

Applicants who have completed at lease sixty (60) semester hours credit from a regionally accredited college or university will be appointed to the Substitute Teacher, Level 3, position.  They will earn $14.13 per hour.
This is an excepted service position.

Duties

The substitute teacher replaces the classroom teacher.  The substitute teacher plans, organizes, and presents information and instruction which helps students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development; instructional content is compatible with the school and system-wide curricular goals; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, and parents; carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed; adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations; and follows a plan for professional development.  The substitute teacher reports to and is supervised by the principal.
