This position is located in the Division of Information Technology, Dallas Client Services, Dallas Client Operations Unit, Dallas Client Services Receivership, Dallas, TX of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support and coordination of the implementation of major IT improvement programs, renovations, and service implementations within the Region and Field Offices of the FDIC.  

The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed 2 years,  which may be extended to a maximum of four years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.  The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments.  The locality rates for Dallas, TX area is 15.55%. For more on FDIC locality rates, click here.

This position is located in the Division of Information Technology, Dallas Client Services, Dallas Client Operations Unit, Dallas Client Services Receivership, Dallas, TX of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support and coordination of the implementation of major IT improvement programs, renovations, and service implementations within the Region and Field Offices of the FDIC. The incumbent serves as the principal focal point for IT and telecommunications services provided in the Regional and Field Offices of the Corporation. The incumbent exercises IT responsibility for multiple FDIC Offices; supports and implements the existing hardware, software and network configuration of the client server environment of all systems within the Regional and Field Offices; and monitors the operation and functions of the local area networks (LAN) within the Regional and Field Offices, as well as the integration of such LANs with the Regional Office networks and other telecommunications systems.

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. 

In order to qualify, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 12 level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is hands-on experience in all areas of troubleshooting and resolving issues with Microsoft Software including Windows 7 and MS Office 2010; remote access capabilities; repairing laptops, desktops, printers; imaging of work stations; and wireless networking consisting of configuring and troubleshooting work stations to connect to wireless networks.

If you are found qualified, you will be placed in one of three categories:  Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified.  These category assignments are a measure of the degree in which your background and responses to the assessment questions match the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) listed below.  Within these categories, candidates eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. 

1. Knowledge of computer software concepts such as data representation, data structures, file systems, operating systems, software development methodologies, and network protocols.

 

2. Knowledge of computer hardware concepts such as computer architecture, computer communications systems, and peripheral devices (printers, fax machines, data storage drives, etc.).

3. Ability to support and coordinate the implementation of major IT improvement programs, renovations, and services including graphical systems, graphic displays, and high-speed communications links such as Frame Relay, Packet Switching, Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).

4. Ability to analyze, propose and implement integrated IT solutions and communicate those solutions to the client.
