Location: This position is within the Denver Acquisitions & Logistics Center (DALC) in Golden, Colorado.

Major Duties

  • Responsible for the placement of all hearing aid service/orders received at the Denver Acquisition & Logistics Center.
  • Apply hearing aid knowledge to customer requests to determine accurate repair order descriptions.
  • Define and describe the hearing aid malfunction or other service required on the repair service delivery order.
  • Process repair orders in accordance with established timeliness standards.
  • Perform quality control on commercially repaired hearing aids using sound measurement test instruments, visual inspection, listening operational checks and manufacturer's technical data.
  • Initiates, maintains, and disposes of computer records for veterans and medical facilities.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with patients, health care facility medical staff, and member of various service organizations.

Qualifications must be met by the Closing Date: You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by Thursday, May 23, 2013.

To qualify for this position, you must have at least: 

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service, or comparable pay band in other pay systems; but may also have been obtained in the private sector, and demonstrated experience providing customer service in a medical clinic or laboratory, performing routine and/or preventive maintenance on medical supportive devices, i.e. hearing aids, or small medical appliances; battery replacement or visual inspections; application of basic supply management and inventory systems, and skill in operating various office machines to maintain data and program information in automated computer files.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.


 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a one year probationary period.

 

·         Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

·         Promotion Potential:  The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.  Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Your application will be evaluated based on your ability to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities/competencies: 

 

  • Knowledge of service/repair delivery order placement procedures.
  • Skill in operating various office machines, e.g. personal computers, printers, calculators, copiers.
  • Knowledge of the operations, materials, equipment and procedures necessary to maintain data and program information.
  • Understanding of terms of various repair contracts to interpret conditions, and types of warranties.
  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of hearing aid batteries, i.e. voltage, size, life expectancy.
  • Comprehension of different models of hearing aids from numerous manufacturers distinguishing types, and their application to patient's needs.
  • Knowledge of hearing aid devices and principles of sound measurement and hearing aid audiology.
