POSITION DETAILS: TERM APPOINTMENT Not to Exceed 13 months, may be extended up to 4 year TERM limit as determined by the agency.

Salary range: $67,047.00 - $82,131.00 (Annually)

This position is located at Northern Navajo Medical Center.  The purpose is to manage and coordinate program activities involving health care services to sexual assault survivors as part of a comprehensive Community Health Program for Shiprock Service Unit. 

 

·         Designs, implements coordinates and evaluates the local Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SANE/SAFE) Program including aim, goals, objectives, activities and care coordination of the needs of victims of sexual assault.  Determines that the program meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements.  Provides or coordinates staff education by conducting assessment of education needs. 

·         Serves as the subject expert to medical staff, nursing staff, housekeeping and allied health staff relating to care of victim/survivors; provides consultation, guidance and assistance to staff regarding patient equipment, materials and supplies for forensic evident collection according to the standards of care; assures Service Unit utilizes safe equipment, materials and supplies to prevent harm/loss or incorrectly forensic evidences.

·         Serves as the facilitator and the subject matter expert; coordinates with local law enforcement, prosecution, judicial, victim advocates and mental health services; advocates for victims/survivor of sexual assault with local and regional resources.

·         Performs Performance Improvement surveillance to ensure clinical benchmarks are met.

·         Develops and participates in the Service Unit Performance Improvement Program by gathering and analyzing data accordingly.

·         Develops, administers and evaluates the local programs.  Serves as a resource/consultant to OB/GYN, Emergency Medicine, and Women's Health.

·         Participates with community partners such as: The Home for Women and Children, Navajo Nation Law Enforcement, Navajo Nation Prosecutor, Navajo Nation Social Services and Federal resources; advocate for victims/survivor of sexual assault.

·         Assists team Registered Nurse coordinators with all sub specialty clinics, may provide direct nursing care in the sub specialty clinics; provides specialized health education to sexual assault victims with special care needs.  Plans program expansion to provide Pediatric Sexual Assault/Abuse program.

1.   Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.  Must provide official Nursing transcripts.

In addition to the above, you must also meet the following minimum requirements for the grade level you wish to be considered for:

 

GS-11:  Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education OR1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.  To be creditable, specialized experience in diversified professional nursing concepts and practices to apply such knowledge with judgment and perception necessary for the purpose of making distinctions between the various medical treatments, procedures performed, medical equipment operated, and assessing and determining the course of care for the patient; knowledge and skills principles and practices training equivalent to an education program of a registered nurse; assesses the conditions of patients, provides forensic exams; assessment of patient health needs, including mental and emotional and physical factors; knowledge of pregnancy counseling; contraception, knowledge of microbiology, infectious disease and aseptic techniques; knowledge of medical forensic examinations and evidence collections. 

 

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.  Graduate-level education must have been in nursing with concentration in a field of nursing (e.g., teaching, a clinical specialty, research, administration, etc.) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position to be filled.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

First notification: Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
