Salary Range:  $50.50 - $101.00 USD Per Day

                          Salary rates will be determined by hours worked per day:

                          Less than one full day = $50.50 per day

                          One full day = $101.00 per day

 

The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for position(s) in DDESS Schools. This vacancy announcement may be used for the purpose of filling multiple temporary, intermittent, on-call seasonal positions for for School Year.

The purpose of this position is to provide instructional services to students, grades Kindergarten-12, as a substitute for the regular teacher. 

Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university will be appointed to the Substitute Teacher position.

Applicants who have a high school diploma or GED but less than a Bachelor’s degree will be appointed to the Training Instructor position.

This is an excepted service position.

The substitute teacher/training instructor replaces the classroom teacher.  The substitute teacher/training instructor plans, organizes, and presents information and instruction which helps students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development; has an instruction which is compatible with the school and system-wide curricular goals; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, and parents; carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed; adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations; and follows a plan for professional development.  The substitute teacher/training instructor reports to and is supervised by the principal.

DoDDS employs the best qualified professional staff to implement its program of learning.  The best qualified candidate is defined as an applicant who possesses a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association which includes 18 semester hours of coursework in the field of professional teacher education; a baccalureate degree in any major; or an associate degree or has completed at least 60 semester hours of college coursework or if necessary, selection may be made on minimum qualification requirement.  The minimum qualification is a high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED). 

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Military spouse, family members may not receive employment preference until actually arriving at the overseas location. 

 


A copy of your sponsor's Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders authorizing movement of a family member to the overseas command or other appropriate documentation (such as a statement of command sponsorship) to support family member status must be submitted to receive consideration.

Your application will initially be reviewed to determine whether you meet the minimum eligibility and qualification requirements. If you are qualified, you will then be appointed to the corresponding position based on the qualifications listed above.

Relocation expenses are not authorized.

2.  Photocopy of all OFFICIAL college/university transcripts with announcement number stated on them.  To receive the maximum allowable credit you must include all transcripts (front and back) for each degree earned to include any additional courses currently in progress.  Any transcripts submitted that are not in English or not official will be removed from the application and will not be considered. (Transcripts must be in English.)

4.  DD-Form 214 – Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, Member 4 copy , if applicable.
