This position is located in the U.S. Coast Guard, Assistant Commandant for Resources, Division of Financial Operations/Comptroller, Washington, DC.

                                                  

Note:  Currently this position is located at 1900 Half Street, SW, Washington, DC.  In the Summer of 2013, this position will relocate to new facilities being constructed at the historic St. Elizabeths west campus located at 2701 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, Washington DC 20020.  The historic campus is currently under renovation and will eventually serve as the new DHS Consolidated Headquarters Campus.  Information on this new site can be found on the Coast Guard web page at http://www.uscg.mil/stelizabeths, and at GSA's web site http://www.stelizabethsdevelopment.com.


Duties

Under the general direction and supervision of the Coast Guard Director of Financial Operations/Comptroller, the incumbent will serve as the Chief of the Office of Financial Systems Business Requirements (CG-86).

 

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team.  Typical work assignments include: 

 

- Supervising team members through coordination with team leads and military officers, who provide day-to-day direction and guidance regarding team member work assignments and performance.

- Identifying and evaluating weaknesses and gaps between current and proposed system operations and requirements from the Inspector General (IG), Government Accountability Office (GAO), Office of Management and and Budget (OMB), Treasury, legislation, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Financial Systems Integration Office (FSIO), and other bodies.

-Managing financial management system (FMS) improvement and/or replacement teams including support and process teams.

-Providing regular briefings to governance bodies and other Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security leaders as appropriate.
