This position is located within the Bath VA Medical Center Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service customer service office.  The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (MSA) works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

   receiving and directing all incoming and outgoing phone calls

   participates in team huddles and team meetings to manage and plan patient care; set priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs; may work with the team to reinforce the plan of care

   participates in  and provides input in problem solving on operational issues or procedures in team meetings

   performing administrative follow up actions

   participating in and independently following up on team huddles by sharing information and collaborating with the medical team to assure continuity of care

   maintaining the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids appointment schedule which involves scheduling patients by referral (consults), from another clinic as a walk-in, telephone requests, and inpatient hospital calls or prior to discharge if needed

   performs other assignments as needed.

 

Work Schedule: full time, Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred Experience/GRADE DETERMINATION:  at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in Federal service. Such experience would include receive and direct incoming telephone calls; use computerized appointment scheduling program; update demographic data; process purchasing activity as needed; maintain office supply inventories, and perform administrative functions in a medical office setting.  Other responsibilities preferred would include participating in team huddles and team meetings to manage and plan patient care; set priorities and deadlines; adjust flow and sequence of work to meet team and patient needs; work within a team concept to reinforce the plan of care and self-help solutions; and providing input to problem solving on operational issues or procedures
