The Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of all major construction projects greater than $10 million. In addition, CFM acquires real property for use by VA elements through the purchase of land and buildings, as well as long-term lease acquisitions. Through the construction and real property programs, CFM delivers to Veterans, high quality buildings, additions, large scale renovations, and structural enhancements. CFM also manages facility sustainability, seismic corrections, physical security, and historic preservation of VA's facilities.
As the Supervisory General Engineer/Architect you will:
Serve as Director , Facilities Operations Support and is responsible for providing management of Engineers (in all disciplines) and Architects for workforce deployment.
Develop strategies and plans for providing continuous, high-quality, professional, efficient expertise needed to support the construction of complex health care and other facilities.
Play a critical role in establishing the protocol for the deployment of CFM's Resident Engineer (RE) workforce on a regional basis, and ensures compliance with policy for this activity in the assigned region.
Provide oversight, direct supervision and authority that is closer to mission execution where resolution to operational issues can be expedited in a more timely fashion, and manage resources and workload ensuring proper staffing levels for projects in assigned region.
Oversee and maintain deployment capability that guarantees improved productivity and aligns efforts to coincide with the attainment of construction program goals and objectives.
Assure consistent practices by collaborating, communicating, and sharing information in an effort to leverage early contributions of knowledge and expertise.
Focus on improving core business practices of structure, funding, process, authority flow, skill development and clarity of responsibilities to more effectively implement deployment activities.
