This position is located at the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Department (SARP), Mental Health Directorate, Naval Medical Center, San Diego, California.   This position reports to the Head, Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Department.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

A typical day in the life of a Supervisory Clinical Psychologist!

  • Serve as an immediate supervisor.
  • Provide psychological assessment, and consultation liaison to Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program clinics.
  • Plan and conduct group treatment interventions for patients with co-existing psychiatric disorders.
  • Conduct psychological test batteries.
  • Lead weekly multi-disciplinary treatment teams monitoring the progress of 30 or more substance abuse disordered patients.
  • Ensure patient emotional/behavioral conditions are identified and appropriated interventions are utilized.
  • Generate and maintain a variety of clinical records and reports in keeping with pre-established criteria.

POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  This position has a Positive Education Requirement. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

1. Completion of all of the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D, Psy.D, or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.  You must submit a copy of your college transcript.

AND                                                      
2. Completion of a one year psychology clinical internship training program that is APA accredited or is judged fully equivalent. Make sure your resume reflects the location, duration (beginning and ending dates including month and year), and specialty of the completed internship.  If your resume does not reflect you possess this internship experience, your resume will not be considered. If your psychology clinical internship training program is not APA accredited it will be your responsibility to demonstrate your training program's equivalence.  

AND

3. Must hold an active, current, unrestricted license as a Psychologist by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands.   Please make sure your resume list the type of licensure you possess and from where it was obtained and most recent date it was awarded.   If your resume does not reflect you possess, your resume will not be considered.

In addition to the above basic requirements, applicants must possess the following specialized experience:  

Applicant must have one or more years of progressively related experience.   Examples of this experience includes serving as professional Clinical Psychologist performing duties such as managing or leading a staff; evaluating, diagnosing and assessing a variety of patients with mental health and substance abuse disorders; applying psychological theories, principles to explain, or justify psychological diagnoses, conclusions, findings or treatment recommendations.  

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.  


EDUCATION:

REQUIREMENTS:
