JOB SUMMARY:

MINNESOTA AIR NATIONAL GUARD

This position is located in the Small Air Terminal Section of the Deployment and Distribution Flight, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, at an ANG Aviation Wing.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible AFSC in the Minnesota Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Inspects a variety of airdrop equipment such as parachutes, multi loop lines, extraction transfer force couplings, latch assembly couplings, cable assembly couplings, actuator assembly, release cargo parachute M-1, lanyard arming wire, connector parachute, timer delay assembly, link lower suspension, link assembly single suspension type IV, link assembly heavy duty, link 4 point, parachute release single knife, bracket suspension, and tie down cargo quick release.  Performs airdrop inspections after priorities are set, work sequences are determined, and pertinent policy matters have been reviewed.  Independently performs assignments at the aircraft where the supervisor is not readily available.  Rigs and prepares unilateral airdrop training loads to include type V or other airdrop platforms for airdrops.  Fabricates container delivery systems loads, skid boards, and other associated airdrop items, as required.  Performs drop zone control operations as Drop Zone Controller/Safety Officer.  Formulates, implements, and documents programs to train Wing augmentation in support of Wing air transportation deployment functions to ensure effective and efficient operations of installation deployment processes.  Ensures items offered for transport by air meet proper specifications to maximize safety and security of the aircraft, aircrew, cargo and passengers.  Monitors and administrates data systems, within the technical and functional parameters and standards established by USTRANSCOM and in coordination with the Assistant Under Secretary of Defense for Transportation Policy, to integrate DOD transportation information worldwide and provide transportation and In-Transit Visibility (ITV) data for commanders at all levels.  Analyzes operational plans, policies, and procedures for air terminal activities and facilities essential to air passenger and cargo movement processes.  Inspects cargo received for airlift to verify eligibility and ensures proper documentation, packaging, and marking in accordance with applicable DOD directives.  Establish and maintains the installation Space Available air travel program.  Reviews passenger travel authorizations for validity and accuracy.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of equipment and practices associated with the type of work to be done.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  WG-10 requires 18 months of experience in verifying cargo against mainifest; inspecting for damage or unusual condition of shipment; experience which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of appropirate cargo locations considering factors such as use, size,shape of cargo; knowledge of storing and handling of hazardous cargo; experience in weight and balance computations, distribution and palletizing of loads; experience in using forklifts; experience in using automated or manual means to complete air movement records or reports; experience in operating sewing machines, pnch presses, and stenciling machines; experience in inspecting parachutes and identifying defective equipment; experience in using navigational adis to determine timing points and marking drop zones.

COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:   2T2X1

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY:   Upon selection, individual must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota National Guard.

Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access.  Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility.

EVALUATION FACTORS:   Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office. To insure full consideration, applicants are urged to submit information about their training, self-development, outside experience, activities and awards. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position. The applicant is credited with actual number of months the member has been in the National Guard if the experience is related.
