These are TEMPORARY positions at the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office, located in Honolulu, Hawaii.  These positions are not to exceed 6 months.  Extension of appointment beyond the initial 6 months will not be authorized. 

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION: A 12.25 percent cost of living allowance (COLA) will be paid in addition to salary.  COLA rates are subject to change.

This position has been established to provide budgetary and office support.  Typical duties include:

  • Recording and processing a variety of standard invoices and documents for obligation or payment.
  • Accessing financial databases to input payments, determining cause of rejected transactions.
  • Monitoring financial commitments, obligations, payments and balances.
  • Compiling information for a variety of budget related data calls.
  • Reconciling monthly credit card statements.
  • Greeting visitors, respond to phone, written, and electronic mail inquiries.
  • Preparing correspondence, forms, and reports; setting up electronic and hardcopy file systems.

To qualify for this position at the GS-4 grade level, you must meet either A, B, or C below.  In addition, it must be evidenced in your application package.

A. Possess at least one year of general experience which is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or

B. Completed two years of education above high school at an accredited educational institution.  You must submit a copy of your transcripts if qualifying based on education; or

C. Possess a combination of qualifying general experience and post high school education, which when combined, meets 100 % of the qualification requirement.

Other Key Requirements (condition of employment):

Physical Demands:  The work is primarily sedentary. Operation of government vehicle is necessary for travel to various administrative sites/offices, attend training, pick up supplies.

 

Work Environment;  The work is in an office setting performing duties in a manner consistent with all applicable safety standards.  Duties may require occasional travel.
