Student Intern Program:  This position is being filled under the new Pathways – Internship Program which provide opportunities for high school, vocational and technical, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to be exposed to the work of the Federal government.

 

Student Definition:  Students must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc,) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled) throughout the duration of the appointment, including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93-842.

 

Position Duration/Expectation:  Positions will be temporary not-to-exceed 1 year.  Completion of this Internship will not lead to permanent or term employment with NARA.

  • Provides reference service by searching for, re-filing, or inter-filing records in simple or self-indexing filing systems. Correct locations are provided, specific information is requested, locations are concentrated and alternate actions are not routinely required. As instructed, searches for information in designated portions of the records, searching for specific, readily available information in answer to requests of a recurring nature. Obtains specific records for the use of higher grade employees, or for the use of others requesting the service, assists in the surveillance of records while in research use to see that they are being used properly, and returns them to the appropriate storage areas.

 

  • The incumbent may, under the direction of Reference Lead Technician, undertake specific tasks as assigned with minimal direct guidance, such as palletizing records disposal that has been marked, verified and reviewed; be responsible for creating pallet lists as assigned or checking routine data to ensure accuracy."  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

For GS-3:  Six months of general experience in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled or completion of 1 year of education above high school.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
