This announcement is open to all US Citizens.  More than one selection may be made from this announcement.  This is a Temporary Intermittent appointment.  The selected individual is limited to working no more than 1038 work hours in a service year.  Based upon workload and budget restrictions this position is not expected to continue beyond one year from the date of appointment but may be extended.   This position does not provide any federal benefits.  Sick and annual leave are not earned and the work hours of the individual will vary considerably based upon the workload.

The position is an excepted service non-status appointment.

 The individual performs basic routine clerical and typing tasks for the maintenance and support of the section.  This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.


Type and maintain information in finished form such documents as correspondence, memos, reports, etc. using computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet and database.


Answer multi-line telephones, route calls, take messages, schedule appointments, and respond to or refer inquiries.


Greet staff, visitors and/or customers and provide required assistance, or refer top proper source for assistance.


Process mail, including open, sort, stamp, log in and distribute.


Retrieve and input data utilizing a computer


Maintain filing systems


Other duties as assigned.


A valid state driver's license is required.

For consideration as a GS-4, you must have at least one year of general experience performing progressively responsible clerical office or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position in this field. Demonstrated general experience examples are: typing memos, correspondence and reports using word processing.  Answering and routing telephone calls, scheduling appointments and referring inquiries.  Maintaining filing systems, assembling materials for mailings.  Ordering supplies, greeting visitors, completing standard forms.



Have successfully completed two full-time years above high school level in any field for which high school graduation or equivalent is the normal prerequisite for attending. The education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college or university.  



Have a combination of experience and education (as listed in B above) that totals at least 100 percent when combined to qualify at the GS-4 level (see the links for qualification standards listed above)
