This position is located in HHT 3/278 ACR which is CLOSED TO FEMALES.

 

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the personnel and administrative section HHT 3/278 ACR, Mount Carmel, TN. The primary purpose of the position is to provide assistance in administering the military personnel program for the Battalion.  The position works under the direction of the senior personnel and administrative NCO.

  • Must maintain National Guard membership for continued employment
  • Must obtain/maintain compatible military assignment
  • Wear of the military uniform is a requirement of this position
  • Acceptance of position may terminate bonus

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: (1) Assists in administering the military personnel program for the organization. (2)  Reviews enlisted promotion packets prior to submission to higher headquarters for quality and completion.  (3)  Assists with the coordination of health services support. (4) Provides assistance to the commander and staff pertaining to military personnel administration. (5)  Provides information to unit personnel about benefits and entitlements, career and bonus programs, educational, retirement, and other benefits. (6)  Assembles supporting documentation required at higher levels when processing actions such as involuntary order to active duty, courts martial, fraudulent enlistment, non-selection for retention, administrative discharges, etc. (7)  Reviews copies of unit reports furnished by higher level military personnel offices to identify discrepancies and assist with the management of personnel assets within the organization. (8)  Performs various administrative duties relating to military personnel involving the composition and distribution of correspondence, publications, reports, orders, etc. (9)  Prepares press releases, articles, announcements, or advertisements for submission to local news media designed to make the public aware of the National Guard and their role in the community and in national defense. (10)  May be required to assist in the recruiting and retention activities of the organization. (11)  Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 9 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate’s ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

 

Meeting the months of experience requirement will not by itself be accepted as proof of qualification. Quality, type, and scope of experience or education must be demonstrated to show that applicant is fully qualified to perform duties at the grade level announced.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Address the following factors in detail, giving dates of experience and in what position the experience was gained.  This information is used only for ranking and rating and is additional information and not used for qualifying applicants.  Resume must reflect applicable experience.

1.  Knowledge of basic rules, regulations and policies which govern the issuance of military ID cards and DEERS system.

 

2.  Knowledge of government-wide rules, regulations, laws, and policies governing the type of transactions being dealt with.

 

3.  Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

 

4.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)


Substitution of Education for specialized experience High school graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for 3 months of specialized experience.  Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of one academic year of study (i.e. 36 weeks of substantially full time study, or 30 semester hours, or the equivalent) for 12 months of the required experience.  For experience required in excess of 24 months, education in schools above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of education for 6 months experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: Certificate of training/diploma must be submitted if substituting training for experience
