The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the United States Department of Agriculture's chief scientific research agency and one of the world's premiere scientific organizations.  ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems of high national priority affecting American agriculture.


Major Duties:

The main goal of this position is elucidation of genetic mechanisms governing natural variation for plant cuticle lipid metabolism.  The incumbent will apply genetic and genomic approaches toward understanding the basis for qualitative and/or quantitative variation in cuticle lipid content and composition in the Brassicaceae.  The commercial oilseed species, Brassica napus, will receive primary emphasis.  Complimentary studies using model plants are also anticipated.  Experience with molecular genetics and/or genomics is required.  Experience applying genomic tools to elucidate cellular processess underlying lipid metabolism are desireable.
