The Associate Director, Patient Care Service/Executive Nurse (ADPCS/EN) is the Executive Nurse for the facility and its associated community-based outpatient clinics. The ADPCS/EN is responsible for the practice of nursing 24/7 by registered nurses, advance practice nurses, allied health staff (LPNs, NAs, etc.), along with medical technicians, and supervisory inventory specialist in Sterile Processing Service (SPS). The ADPCS/EN will exercise final authority and approval over job descriptions, nursing care policies and procedures; nursing standards of patient care, standard operating procedures, treatment, and services; standards of nursing practice; nurse staffing plans; and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes. The ADPCS/EN will ensure that all registered nurses, advance practice nurses, and licensed practical nurses are licensed, certified, and/or registered upon employment, and thereafter. The ADPCS/EN will ensure a competency process is in place to evaluate individual practice, as well as a review process for annual performance ratings.

 

The ADPCS/EN is a member of the Salisbury senior management team ("Quad"), along with the Medical Center Director, the Associate Medical Center Director (AD), and the Chief of Staff (COS). The ADPCS/EN participates fully in upper-level management decisions to speak on behalf of nursing and sterile processing service, and is a member of all Medical Center-level Councils and Committees that govern and influence the operations of the Medical Center, such as the Executive Leadership Board, Executive Committee of the Governing Board, Resource Management Committee, Dean's Committee and Labor Management Council.

 

The ADPCS/EN and other nursing/SPS leaders participate with leaders from the senior management team, management, medical staff, clinical areas, and administrative areas in strategic planning and decision-making processes. Patient Care Service leaders in all services are permitted input into nursing policy and standard operating procedure development, and may participate in the ADPCS/EN Administrative Staff Meetings, encompassing Patient Care Service management and staff development. Appropriate delegation of patient care activities is accomplished to Patient Care leaders in all services.

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: To qualify you have to be a Registered Nurse (RN) who holds a Master's Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) - or  a Master's Degree in a related field with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program or a Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field and must posses basic or advanced certification.
