This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Individual selected for this position must meet and maintain ART requirements. Applicants for this position must currently be a member of the Air Force Reserve or willing and eligible to join. Retired military personnel are not eligible for Air Reserve Technician positions unless currently assigned in an active Air Force Reserve position or a waiver has been obtained prior to self-nomination. Applicants must document on the resume, possession of a waiver. Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a physical examination and must be found physically qualified for admission to the Air Force Reserve. The Air Force has final responsibility for determining eligibility for admission to the Air Force Reserve.

This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).  The GG-09 duties for the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-09 level.  The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

MAJOR DUTIES for TRAINING TECHNICIAN, GG-1702-09

-Plans, directs, and controls the intelligence and communication training program.

-Initiates and conducts a testing program for intelligence and communications technicians to determine specific training needs. 

-Plans and outlines a training program for management personnel to cover the training of replacement supervisors as well as training and/or retraining of currently assigned supervisors, as needed. 

-Performs work regarding conducting staff visits to organizations within units. 

-Performs work to train personnel within unit in all elements of intelligence and communication training program as it affects them.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS.  This position is in the Excepted Service.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower qualifying pay band or equivalent grade under the General Schedule (GS/GG) pay system or other pay systems.  To be creditable, your resume must further reflect specialized experience, demonstrating quality in the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to meet the requirements of this position.  Specialized experience would be demonstrated by planning, directing, and controlling the intelligence and communication training program and initiating and conducting a testing program for intelligence and communications technicians to determine specific training needs.

Education:  Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 

1.  Knowledge of AFRC Reserve mission and training methods, policies, procedures, regulations, instructions, and documentation requirements. 

2.  Knowledge of training goals and objectives to assist in the management and implementation of training goals for the intelligence and communications units. 

3.  Knowledge of methods and procedures for conducting unit training studies. 

4.  Knowledge of and skill in using automated systems to prepare reports and extract data from them.  Ability to analyze automated products to determine adequacy of program and/or deficiencies. 

5.  Knowledge of intelligence and communications Air Force Specialty Code skill-level qualifications, update, enhancement, and proficiency training requirements. 

6.  Skill in oral and written communication and ability to coordinate with all levels of command to ensure accomplishment of training program objectives. 

 

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1.  This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position.  The incumbent is required to met and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.

2.  May be required to perform temporary duty assignments and in the performance of these assignments may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft.

3.  May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.

4.  The incumbent must attain and maintain the security requirements for this position. 

5.  This is a Testing Designated Position under the Drug free Workplace Program and successor programs.
