JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will serve as scheduling supervisor for the TV Studio Service, Voice of America.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency, is an exciting, multicultural organization that encompasses all U.S. civilian international broadcasting. The BBG is comprised of the Voice of America, which delivers high quality, multimedia programming in 44 languages to audiences worldwide; the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti); the International Broadcasting Bureau, which provides transmission, administrative, and other support service; and three grantee organizations - Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty; the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free Asia. Our staff of dedicated professionals serves as an example of a free and independent media, reaching a worldwide audience with news, information, and relevant discussions.

  • Scheduling personnel as needed to provide adequate coverage for daily productions.
  • Develop processes and procedures for technical staff to ensure production and customer expectations are met.

Specialized Experience: 

Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12, Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.

Examples are: Experience in TV Broadcasting with working knowledge of TV production, production equipment, pre-production planning and completion of programs in final version, generating monthly reports such as staffing utilization and budgetary, manage daily assignments of the TV studio technical staff to ensure sufficient coverage to meet production requirements, monitor staff performance and provide guidance and complete performance appraisals.

OR

Education may be substituted for specialized experience:

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.

 

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.


Suitability Determination: If selected, you will be subject to a security investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment. The security investigation will include, among other aspects, a review of your credit and legal history.

 

This position may require you to serve a 1-year supervisory probationary/managerial period.
