  Carl Vinson VAMC is seeking a Psychologist for the Community Living Center in the Geriatrics Program.

This position will remain open until filled.  Candidates will be sent to Selecting Official every week beginning on May 9, 2013.

Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

 The psychologist assigned to the position of Mental Health Service Line with primary assignment to the Community Living Center (CLC) with collaboration with the Geriatrics programs.  The focus of the position is facilitation of current culture transformation efforts, which seek to achieve a home-like and person-centered environment for nursing home residents.  Another important role will be to promote evidence based, non- pharmacological interventions to reduce behavioral symptoms, such as agitation, home treatment culture and promoting the delivery of psychosocial services to reduce behavioral symptoms.  The psychologist in this position has competencies in working with older adults using a variety of assessment and treatment techniques.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • English language proficiency (written and spoken)
  • License, Registration, Certification Requirements (as applicable)
  • Must have a doctoral degree in psychology from APA Accredited Graduate Program
  • Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship by the American Psychological Association
  • For GS 13, there must be two or more years of clinical experience comparable to what one would get in a VA setting, either by postdoctoral employment or two years of employment as a Psychologist.
  • Must pass a pre-employment exam
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
