CONNECTICUT ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

DUTY LOCATION:  Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Windsor Locks, CT

JOB SUMMARY:  Its purpose is to plan, organize, review, evaluate, and supervise the various work processes of the section. The position also provides supply support for aviation maintenance. The position serves as the property book custodian. Manages materiel, resource tracking (Depot Level Repair (DLR)/Class 9 (CLIX), special Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)/tool transactions and performs administrative oversight of hazardous material accountability

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.  If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Connecticut Army National Guard recruiter at (800) 716-3550 before applying for this position.

The major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises subordinates that are performing materiel management, resource tracking (DLR/CLIX), special TDME/tool transactions and hazardous material accountability.
  • Performs property book operations in the areas of inventory and storage management and equipment coordination.
  • Reviews and analyzes listings and reports produced by the automated system to resolve problems on error listings, and provide guidance to assigned personnel.
  • Provides supervision over the Materials Examiner and Identifier who is responsible for the hazardous materials program (i.e., inspecting, receiving, sorting, accounting and classifying explosives, toxic chemicals, flammables, gas cylinders, radioactive material, and hazardous waste).
  • Implements regulatory safety and health requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered.  Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 9 months of specialized experience in the following:  

  • Experience which demonstrates knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. 
  • Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for routine supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. 
  • Experience performing routine aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
  • Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. 
  • Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  High school graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for three months of specialized experience. Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of one academic year of study (i.e., 36 weeks or substantially full-time study or 30 semester hours or the equivalent.) for 12 months of the required experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of standard methods of receipt or material order documentation control and material processing.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations regarding storage space controls, stock location systems, layout, and storage technique.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
  • Knowledge of regulations, and mechanized/statistical techniques in the computation and forecasting of quantative requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing the accounting for government property.
  • Ability to research information.
  • Knowledge of how to fill out, post, file, or code supply documents or transactions.


COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.

  • MILITARY GRADE (prior to appointment):  Warrant Officer: W1 to W4;   Enlisted:  E6 to E9
  • COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:  WMOS: 150A,151A, 915A, 948B/E, or 920A/B;   CMF:  15, 67, 91, or 92
  • UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT:  The 1/169 Aviation Regiment or subordinate aviation unit in the state.

  • Incentive Termination without Recoupment:  If you accept an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) position or a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent position after 25 February 2010 where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment.
