This is a Recent Graduate position in the Pathways Program within the VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville IL.  Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic 1 year developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.  At the successful conclusion of this program, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position.

  • The incumbent is responsible for a broad range of administrative, clerical, and clinical duties associated with six direct patient care clinics.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the independent performance of administrative duties as delegated by the Supervisory Coordinator and/or the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS).
  • The incumbent assigns work load distribution within the PM&RS office, clerical and scheduling staff.
  • The incumbent maintains the service organizational chart, the actual full time employee equivalent (FTEE) statistics, the current and historical data on budgeted FTEE statistics and variances and assists with staffing methodology.
  • Serves as time keeper for the service, this includes time keeping for employees located at the Peoria and Mattoon locations.
  • Coordinates implementation of new and renewed forms.
  • Serves as a PM&RS liaison with support services such as Human Resources, Environmental Management Service, Engineering Service, Acquisition Material Management, etc.
  • Maintains all service Medical center Memorandums, bulletins and internal service policies to assure they are current.
  • Prepares various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the service.
  • Coordinates administrative activity for external reviews such as Joint Commission. Assures information to be reviewed is current, accurate, and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Provides reception to PM&RS office visitors, receives calls, greets visitors, patients and directs them to the staff members as appropriate.

 

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday, 7:45am-4:15pm

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have two years general experience.

OR

Applicants my substitute education for experience.

OR

Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify as the GS-5 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess.  Add the two percentages.  The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-5. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable general experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.

Recent Graduate Program Eligibility: To meet the Program requirements, you must have obtained a qualifying Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years.

**Applicants may also apply if they have completed the degree requirements and have graduation dates between December 27, 2010 and July 10, 2012 under an exception to the Pathways regulations up until July 10, 2014.**
