As selected LPN, you are a member of the interdisciplinary team caring for the Veterans on the Community Living Center (CLC) who is capable of independent critical thinking.  The CLC is a long stay facility caring for veterans with physical and psychiatric disabilities.  The nursing care you provide will include involvement in the development and modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care.

 

Note:  The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-06.  The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-03 to GS-06.  The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate’s education and experience and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed.  The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

Duties

As the selected Practical Nurse, you will be a vital member of the interdisciplinary team providing patient care for our Veterans in the Community Living Centers - Short Stay Unit.  In addition to performing Practical Nursing duties, you will be responsible for promoting Veteran participation in the therapeutic community by fostering self-reliance and independence. You will conduct routine rounds throughout the shift ensuring quality care and compliance with policies, SOPs, and procedures particularly with regard to administering medication, clarifying orders with other providers, utilization of reusable medical equipment (RME) and precautions for infection control; complete necessary reporting requirements for Veterans' patient records, hand-off communications; monitor Veterans for risk behaviors; responds during emergencies; appropriate operates equipment safely; communicate effectively with the Charge Nurse and/or other interdisciplinary team members; assists in the coordination and transfer of Veterans to a more acute level or care; and participates in quality improvement activities. At the GS-3 level and above until reaching full performance at GS-6, you will perform similar duties but under closer supervision.

 

Work Schedule:  40 Hours per bi-weekly pay period

1- Vacancy: Evenings - weekends and holidays included.

1- Vacancy: Nights - weekends and holidays included.
