THIS IS A PERMANENT POSITION

This position is located in the Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) Exploitation Section at an Air National Guard (ANG) Intelligence unit.  The primary purpose of the position is to perform specialized IMINT duties as a Distributed Ground Station (DGS) crew member and to train assigned military unit members in the duties and functions associated with IMINT Tasking, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TPED).  Provides real-time IMINT TPED support to National Agencies, Joint Commands, Air Force Major Commands (MAJCOMs), Air Operations Centers (AOCs), and US and coalition airborne assets in exercises and contingency operations.  Ensures real-time and near-real-time IMINT reporting and analysis is timely and accurate.

GENERAL: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates administrative, professional, investigative, or technical work requiring the ability to deal effectively with others, to collect, evaluate and organize pertinent facts; Experience preparing clear and concise written reports.

Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-09 (Trainee): Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training performing functions involving various intelligence systems and organizations; Experience reviewing and analyzing data including technical reports, surveys, and studies; Experience preparing and conducting training plans and programs, both formal and on-the-job.

Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-11: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training developing and recommending policy, organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of intelligence operations; Experience in administrative, investigative, or technical work which required the applicant to deal effectively with others; Experience collecting, evaluating and organizing pertinent facts and to analyze and prepare clear and concise reports.

TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the GS-11 position indicated above may be considered for GS-09 trainee, if qualified. Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated. If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to GS-11 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following knowledge's, skills, and abilities will be used by the selecting officials to determine the best qualified applicants from which selection will be made:

 

1. Ability to formulate policies, direct and coordinate intelligence activities.

2. Knowledge of intelligence organizations and systems.

3. Ability to analyze and evaluate raw data in order to provide finished reports.

4. Ability to develop and maintain classified/unclassified reference library.

5. Skill in researching and compiling intelligence information to be disseminated.

6. Knowledge of training aids, techniques, and documentation requirements.


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience. The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position.

**Course work in fields closely related to those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance.**

Serves as a Distributed Ground Station crew member in the Imagery Intelligence exploitation section, responsible for Imagery Intelligence operations and production affecting time critical targeting (TCT), direct threat warning, battle damage assessment, combat identification, combat search and rescue, multi-INT correlation, threat analysis, mapping, intelligence preparation of the battle space, situation monitoring, and mission reporting.

7. Interprets, exploits, and plots information derived from imagery, establishing specific data such as distance, cubic capacity of buildings, tanks and storage facilities, line of communications, transportation systems, number, type and specific location of facilities and marshaling areas, troop movements and contour of terrain and man-made features.

8. Works with other crew members to ensure the Imagery Intelligence exploitation section maintains a capability to provide timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations.

9. Provides guidance and assistance to unit and Gaining Command Intelligence specialists and serves to coordinate on projects jointly undertaken by the unit, gaining command, and other organizations.

10. Represents the organization at interagency conferences and meetings that deal with specialty functions and internal training requirements at the unit level.
