The Loaned Executive Program is a special opportunity (unpaid) that provides top executive-level talent from the private sector an opportunity to share their expertise with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to fill special, discrete needs. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) seeks to bring in a Loaned Executive to help advise on and clarify issues related to foreign nationals seeking to work in the United States within the Information Technology (IT) industry. The applicant will serve as an expert within USCIS on the IT industry and will work directly with a multidisciplinary team of immigration experts from within the agency on a range of policy and operational issues.
Initial appointments are for six months with the possibility for extension up to one year.

- Serve as a subject matter expert in the IT industry for the agency;
- Review existing policies, procedures, and training related to the intersection of immigration and the IT industry and recommend alternatives and/or develop enhancements to ensure clear, consistent and predictable adjudications;
- Serve as a consultant regarding industry models and best practices for potential application to the adjudication of benefits across relevant visa classifications, and;
- Establish a framework for continued solicitation of industry-specific information to ensure USCIS policies and practices reflect the business realities faced by employers hiring foreign nationals in the IT industry.
