NCUA is the federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions and insures savings in federal and most state-chartered credit unions across the country through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), a federal fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.

This position is located in the Office of Examinations and Insurance and is responsible for editing text, tables, and graphics in materials prepared by staff. The incumbent, using standard editorial techniques and a general knowledge of public policy, credit unions, banks, and finance, works with authors to ensure that these materials are clear and concise, and that the materials conform to established standards of grammar, language, usage, style and format.

 

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Suitable adjudication of background/Security Investigation is required.
  • Relocation expenses are authorized for NCUA employees only.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

You will:

Edit and proofread a variety of technical documents, such as Letters to Credit Unions, Supervisory Letters, guidance papers, reports, instructions, reference whitepapers.

Author original documents as assigned by conducting appropriate research and fact gathering, including coordinating with and receiving input from applicable staff, to reach appropriate conclusions and convey those conclusions in an effective manner. Collaborate with other staff to prepare written work products, ensuring written products are logical and well structure to conform to current English-usage standards and established editorial style.

Manage publishing projects from conception to printing and distribution, and integrates and troubleshoots the work of other specialists in the publishing process.

CU-13: To qualify for the CU-13 level you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU-12 level in the Federal or private sector. Specialized experience is defined as: experience presenting technical information through independent reading and interviewing subject-matter experts in the financial regulatory environment. This includes experience writing professionally in a financial regulatory environment (such as preparing policy statements, guidance, financial analysis trends, etc.).

SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's Compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's Local Pay Rate (LPR) which includes a locality rate of  24.87 percent for the Alexandria, VA geographical area. NCUA IS A COMPETITIVE SERVICE AGENCY.
