These positions are located in the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations (OPEO), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of the Secretary (OS), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in Washington, DC.

    • Conducts medical logistics management activities associated with the procurement, storage, sustainment, inventory accounting, regulatory standards, and transport of deployable medical resources (i.e., pharmaceuticals, biomedical equipment, laboratory, medical and surgical material) that are designed and packaged to support a public health response to a disaster.
    • Serves as a technical advisor on matters related to medical logistics management activities, programs, regulations, and policies.
    • Utilizes automated systems to manage and track expenditure of funds for procurement, storage, maintenance, and transport of medical materials and assets.
    • Provide presentations and advice to senior management on medical logistics and medical product and equipment management actions.

A. Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service, developing, or performing logistics management operations that involve planning, implementing, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission/program; identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, and services needed to support the mission/program.

OR

B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field of study from an accredited college and/or university or LL.M., if related. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will satisfy the one year of full-time study requirement.

OR

C. Have a combination of experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above. To combine experience and education, first determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.


Foreign Education:  If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.  For further information, visit: http://www.ed.gov/
