 NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

AREA I:  All New Jersey National Guard (NJNG) Technicians

AREA II:  All Members of the NJNG

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.   Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only.   Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

Duties

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

DUTIES:  Provides preliminary interviews and crisis debriefings for Military Technicians and Active Guard/Reserve personnel employed within the state ARNG/ANG.  Maintains contact with drill status Chaplains/Chaplain's Assistants, "home-town" pastors, local church groups and benevolent organizations.  Visits organizations throughout the state, on a periodic basis, to assess chaplain training requirements of full-time support personnel and evaluates the religious support program of drill status ministry teams.  Provides material for religious instructional activities to be conducted by the Chaplain/Chaplain's Assistants during inactive and active duty training periods.  Assists in preparations for special events and seasonal religious services.
