JOB SUMMARY:

The Ohio National Guard seeks to employ high quality applicants for Federal Technician positions. This position requires military membership in the Ohio National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

 

This position performs various duties as a Powered Support Equipment Repairer at an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity, (AAFA) or Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Deport (AVCRAD).  Duties involve the performance of mechanical repairs and maintenance on powered ground and other support equipment used in aircraft servicing and repair.  Additionally, the position is responsible for a variety of duties involving the ground refueling of fixed and rotary wing aircraft.  Performs preventive maintenance and repair of associated mobile and fixed fuel distribution systems.

Troubleshoots, repairs, services, performs minor modifications on, and operates powered ground support equipment such as AC and DC power generators, air compressors, blowers, heaters, portable lighting units, de-icers, and non-powered equipment.  Performs required preventive maintenance and servicing of equipment including repairing and replacing tires, lubrication, oil changes, replacing spark plugs, hoses, v-belts, and other familiar items.Maintains maintenance records and equipment log books.  Performs, as required, various duties involving the operation and maintenance of an aircraft fuel dispensing system including and underground storage system and one of more mobile fuel tanker vehicles.  Performs and/or oversees the performance of lower graded employees.  May assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire and crash/rescue duties.  May assist Aircraft Mechanics in the performance of Aircraft Mechanic Helper duties.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Indefinite Appointments are subject to the guidance set forth in TPR 300-316.2

  • Minimum Military Grade: PFC/E-3
  • Maximum Military Grade: SSG/E-6
  • Compatible Military Assignment: ECMF 15   MOS  91D, 92F, 88H 68A*, 68W* (* Air Ambulance Unit)

General ExperienceExperience, education, or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

Specialized Experience:(WG-08) - 12 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:

1.  Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory and the makeup and operation of the various individual systems and their interrelationships.

2.  Experience using a small variety of test and measurement devices.

3.  Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories.

4.  Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.


Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.  Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.

Requirements

This position is being announced in accordance with state merit promotion procedures and collective bargaining agreement. Wearing of the appropriate military uniform is required while employed in this position. Permanent change of duty station (PCS) funds are not available. 

 

If you are an AGR and are selected for this position, you will be required to vacate your AGR status. 

 

Successful applicant will be assigned to a compatible military position in an appropriate unit of assignment in the Ohio National Guard.
