To qualify for an Emergency Services Dispatcher, your qualifications must include one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must be equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Examples of creditable specialized experience include:
- Answering 911 calls
- Working with emergency services dispatch equipment.
- Interpreting pertinent laws and regulations.
- Providing instruction on emergency medical procedures.
- Developing reports for emergency services communication center programs.
Education is generally not applicable to qualify for this job at the GS-06 level.
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of emergency services communication equipment and related regulations and procedures
- Ability to research and analyze information relating to providing emergency services
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
