One full-time, License Practical Nurse -Telehealth Clinical Technician position available in the Medical Service Unit, a 21 bed acute care unit, at the Hampton VA Medical Center.   The incumbent will be assigned to our Medical Service.  The Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) serves a generalist role, providing technical and administrative support for telehealth programs in the role of an imager and presenter to support video conferencing, staff training, telehealth clinical encounters from the patient and provider locations for telehealth store and forward applications, Home Telehealth technology support, for real time telehealth events, including patient education activities, technical support, training, help desk, scheduling support, and other program support duties as needed.  

The regular tour of duty is Monday through Friday, between the cores hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. There may be some instances where the incumbent would be required to work after 4:30 p.m., or have the flexibility to work outside the normal tour of duty, which may include weekend and holidays.   Grade/Salary is determined by the Nurse Professional Standards Board based on education, qualifications, experience, and credentials. Duties include but are not limited to the following:   Serves as a site representative for Telehealth and is essential for the technology and training aspects of the intervention, and should be part of the clinic team, available for clinical video conferencing, assist with My HealtheVet, attend service team meetings; and assist with training and workload capture that is vital for the completion of the visit and/ or training; performs telehealth imaging using approved telehealth imaging devices, including teleretinal screening, teledermatology and telewound care as identified and referred by the VA Primary Care, other providers, and the imager; assists with patient's clinical reminders related to the imaging process and take necessary action based on the reader's recommendations. Also provides health promotion advice and care management as necessary

 

a.  Supports the Telehealth program as directed by the Chief of Medical Service & Facility    

     Telehealth Coordinator

 

b.  Responsible and accountable for direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse

     Manager/Registered Nurse.

 

c.  Documents and communicates care provided.

 

d.  Provides a full range of nursing care, physical and psycho-social needs to support the    

     patient's visit.

 

e.  Participates in performance improvement activities in support of the Telehealth Program.

 

f.   Performs other directly related duties as assigned

In accordance with VHA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section C Perfessional Standard Boards; VHA Handbook, Part II, appendix G-13, LPN/LVN Qualification Standards                                           

a.  Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.  (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.)

 

b.  Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

 

c.  Licensure: A current, full, active and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia.

 

d.  A minimum of 2 years successful practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse is required.

 

e. Proficient in written and spoken English.

 

f.  Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

 

g.  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communication and therapeutic relationships with co-workers, members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, families and visitors.

 

h.  Dependability and reliability.

 

i.  Self-directed in completing assignments.

 

j.  Interest in expanding skills and knowledge base
