This is a Budget Technician on the Budget Staff on the Stanislaus National Forest. This position is responsible for a variety of procedural and technical duties related to the formulation and execution of a forest unit Internal Operating Budget. Serves as a Unit Collection Officer for over the counter transactions.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.


Database Support Collects, compiles and consolidates data into various financial systems and databases to support budget estimates. Provides technical support and advice to users for such databases as Work Plan and WorkPlan Transaction Register (WPTR). Enters data into multiple databases including; Miscellaneous Obligation Submission Tool (MOST), Financial Transaction Request System (FTRS), and Telephone Utilities Maintenance System (TUMS).

Financial Monitoring Assists higher level budget analysts in monitoring the execution of the units operating budget. Run, sort and analyze data and compose monthly/quarterly/annual and specialized reports of spending by various costs centers for Supervisor’s Office and Ranger District staffs. Run standard financial reports and organize by appropriation and budget line item to show amounts spent and projected spending.

Budget Formulation Based on supervisor’s direction develops estimated budget needs for portions of out -year Cost Pool and Cost Pool Shift budgets, including salaries, rents, utilities, contracts, etc. Based on supervisor’s direction, assists in compiling data needed for annual fleet Fixed Ownership Rate (FOR) budget for the Forest.

As requested gathers and organizes historical spending data for Forest staff. Audit Support Serves as a Lead on gathering and submitting cost information to higher organizational levels. Assists with gathering documents for financial statement audit samples and un-liquidated obligations (ULO).
