NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the New York Air National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.  Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. 

 

This position is located in the Base Civil Engineering Division, Fire Protection Branch at an ANG flying base.

NATIONWIDE:  ALL MILITARY TECHNICIANS IN THE NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD, ALL MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD (INCLUDES AGR), ALL THOSE ELIGIBLE TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD.

Duties

Its primary purpose is to function as Chief of Fire Protection in support of flying activities and first run structural response for both the ANG base and the municipal airport, collocated on the same installation. Through a reciprocal agreement with authorities, incumbent may have full supervisory responsibility for city, county, or state fire fighters in addition to ANG personnel required to provide 24-hour a day fire protection for supported activities. Such authority is exercised over a total of 24 or more personnel comprising a minimum of four operating fire crews daily.
