The Minneapolis Veterans Administration Health Care System (MVAHCS) seeks a Physician that is BE/BC in Colo-Rectal Surgery.  The Minneapolis facility is a busy tertiary care medical center which provides surgical care to veterans ranging from common outpatient procedures to complex Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Vascular, Colo-Rectal and General surgical, ENT, Urologic, Neurosurgical, Orthopedic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Gynecologic surgery.  The successful applicant must have completed an approved fellowship in Colo-Rectal Surgery and be BE/BC in Colo-Rectal Surgery.  The applicant should have significant recent experience with the management of complex Colo-Rectal disease. 

 

The Minneapolis VAHCS is affiliated with the University of Minnesota and the applicant should be eligible for faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level at the University of Minnesota, Department of Surgery.  A significant interest and tract record in research is strongly preferred.  Experience and dedication to supervising and training fellows, residents and medical students training is a requirement.  Duties include the provision of Colo-Rectal services, night call and administrative functions.

 

Salary is determined by a Physician's Compensation panel.  Annual salary amounts are prorated based on the part-time work schedule.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:   

  • U.S. citizenship.  Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience:

  • completed an approved fellowship in Colo-Rectal Surgery and be BE/BC in Colo-Rectal Surgery
  • significant recent experience with the management of complex Colo-Rectal disease.
