ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:

POSITION DETAILS:  Permanent - Full-Time

This position is located at the Santa Clara Pueblo Health Center located in Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico.  The purpose of this position is to provide dentistry services involving the assessment, treatment and prevention of dental health problems in a variety of patients.  Will occassionally provide dental services at the Santa Fe Indian Hospital, Santa Fe, NM.

Area of Consideration:  HHS - Wide

Salary range: $75,427.00- $90,511.00 ( Annually)

Travel Required:   Yes, 2-3 days a month

Relocation Expenses Paid:  Relocation expenses are authorized and will be paid only if you are a current Federal employee.  You will be required to sign a one year agreement.  Failure to fulfull the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses.

  • Makes clinical and radiographic examination of the oral hard and soft tissues, and a diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions such as uncomplicated pulp canal therapy; scalding of calculus, and curettage: treating mouth and gum infections, etc.
  • Performs endodontic, prosthodontic, and periodontic, pedodontic, oral surgery and preventive orthodontic services.
  • Administers local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide  and and analgesia.
  • Studies results of examination and determines types of services required and develops a treatment plan for the patient.
  • Treats an assortment of systematic diseases, recognizing their symptoms and recommending them for treatment to contract dental facilities if it is beyond the training of the incumbent or clinic capabilities.

Basic Requirements:

Education: Degree in dental surgery (D.D.S.) or dental medicine (D.M.D.) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA); or other dental school, provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA-approved school.

Licensure: Applicants must be currently licensed to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. 

Applicants who meet the basic requirements qualify for GS-11.

Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.

Public Health Service (PHS) Licensure Policy: Each PHS dentist must possess and maintain a current, valid dental license in a State.  The sole exception involves dentists who have met all professional requirements for admission to the state licensure examination and have passed such examination, but who have been issued a limited state license on the basis of either non-citizenship in that State or lack of residency requirements in that State. 

Time-in-Grade Requirement: Merit promotion candidates must have completed at least 52 weeks of service in a position no more than one grade lower than the position to be filled.  If selected under the Excepted Service Examining Plan, individuals may be appointed without regard to time-in-grade requirements.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:

First notification: Once the online questionnaire and resume are received, you will receive an acknowledgement email that your submission was successfully received. Receipt of this email does not confirm receipt of the other required document(s): copy of your license or completed OF-306 Addendum form.
