In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants at this grade level must demonstrate the following (KSAs) knowledge, skills, and abilities. If selected for the position KSAs need to be completed on plain paper, with a narrative description of experience, education and training as related to each skill.

1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s).
5. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-12 LEVEL: Requires a minimum of one year of post-MSW degree professional social work experience in the field of health care. This experience must have been in a clinical setting and must have demonstrated the potential to perform advanced assignments independently. (A clinical setting is a medical center, clinic - medical or psychiatric, residential treatment center, or any other type of facility where social work participates in a collaborative treatment and is identified with the medical profession.) Experience must have been obtained AFTER earning a Master's Degree in Social Work.
GS-12 Social Worker Program Coordinators. Program coordinators at the GS-12 grade are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to patients in a major specialty, such as Spinal Cord Injury
(SCI) coordinators, Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST) coordinators, Homeless Veterans Program (HVP) coordinators, Community Nursing Home Program (CNHP) coordinators. They may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. They manage
the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare
reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the programs budget.
Experience, Education and Licensure. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager
must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may
have certification or other post-masters degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
NOTE: The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-12. The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidates education and experience and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily performed while sitting though some work may require periods of standing. The regular and recurring work of the position involves sitting at a desk, conferences, meeting, etc., and occasional visits to activity work sites.
Candidates education, training and experience will be considered in determining the applicant best qualified for the position.
New appointees will be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
