This position is located in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Laboratory of Immunology (LI), Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome (ALPS) Unit.

If you are selected for this position, you will perform the following duties:
- Carry out laboratory experiments to achieve Unit research goals.
- Receive instructions and guidance on the scope and purpose of the research project along with the expected outcome and potential problems.
- Review pertinent sources of information such as methods, manuals and journals to gain familiarity with applicable protocols.
- Discuss specific methods to be used and estimated time and resources required with the Investigator before starting experiments.
- Investigate research objectives relevant to the overall goals of the laboratory.
- Select and order specific kinds and amounts of animals, buffers, reagents, tissue samples, and other materials as required.

Minimum Education Requirements:
A bachelor's (or graduate) degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, from an accredited college or university OR a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to this position, plus appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position.
To qualify for the GS-7: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector OR meet one of the requirements for superior academic achievement OR 1 year of graduate level education OR have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Examples of qualifying experience include: assisting in setting up the laboratory for scheduled experiments; scheduling equipment maintenance or repair; performing specific procedures and techniques in the biological sciences as directed by senior staff within a laboratory; assisting in the maintenance of laboratory facilities by checking current inventory of supplies in the laboratory and ordering appropriate required materials.
