In order to qualify for this position you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and
abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Lead Rehabilitation Technician. To
be creditable for the GS-7, the experience must have been equivalent to the
next lower grade (GS-06) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is
experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application
of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and
activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals.
Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or
direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of
the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist
professional psychologists. ~OR~ One (1) full year of successfully completed graduate-level education with major
study directly related to the work of this position, such as psychology or
other directly related subjects. This education must have been obtained in an
accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is
considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has
determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot
be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours would be considered as
satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education
is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position (Narrative Responses Not Required):
- Ability to Lead a Team of Rehabilitation Technicians.
- Ability to Conduct Newly Admitted Patient Orientation and Assist Patients in Acclimating to Domiciliary Environment.
- Ability to Conduct Individual and Group Education and Counseling Sessions Under the Guidance of a Professional Staff.
- Knowledge of Documenting a Clinical Record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work of the position requires regular walking throughout the 65,000 square foot Domiciliary. Rounds are required to be made on an hourly basis for wellness/bed checks utilizing a two way radio (1.9 lbs) at all times during the assigned shift. The rounds include five (5) stairwells and patient care rooms for 224 patients which are required to be checked hourly for safety reasons as well as emergency exits and doors. This work also requires transporting patients to seek medical care, and moving and transporting light items such as supplies, papers, and books.

Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:
- Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
- Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
- Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
- Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.
After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group.
