IF APPLICABLE:  Military service member's "Statement of Service" will be accepted up to 120 days prior to separation date IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided.  The "Statement of Service" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the Type of Discharge and Character of Service (i.e. honorable).


This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).  The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level.  The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

·   Interpret Air Force (AF), Department of Defense (DoD), and other federal regulations for information security processes as they apply and are implemented within the organization.  Implement established security policies, practices, procedures, and techniques in a variety of organizations or situations that differ in kind and level of security, complexity, and conditions or circumstances requiring adjustment or modification of established approaches. 

·   Research, evaluate, prepare and disseminate replies to policy questions relative to all assigned programs.  Analyze weaknesses identified during Information Security Program Reviews (ISPRs), and higher headquarters inspections of systemic security problems in order to modify and apply recommended solutions. 

·   Use comprehensive knowledge of the integrated organization’s mission to advise commanders and or involved parties on security facilities/equipment/alarm installation, maintenance, and use.  Review plans and make recommendations on operations and maintenance on physical/resources security inputs. 

·   Review and update site drawings, ensures safes and other storage containers, locks, and personnel entry control systems meet applicable security standards and protection levels.  Approve Area Badges and certify issuance of badges, conduct badge inventories and ensure proper destruction. 

·   Maintain an in-depth knowledge of multiple customer missions in order to facilitate the protection of classified and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as required by contract performance.  Maintain detailed records on all supported industrial security activities.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS.  This position is in the Excepted Service.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower qualifying pay band or equivalent grade under the General Schedule (GS/GG) or other pay systems.  To be creditable, your resume must further reflect specialized experience, demonstrating quality in the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to meet the requirements of this position.  Specialized experience is experience gained while performing analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work that has as its principal purpose the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 

1. Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.

2. Knowledge of the intelligence enterprise to support and promote information sharing and strategies.

3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.

4. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.

5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.




PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. 


·        Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a top secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).  A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. 

·        Position is designated as Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.  Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.  Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air force, national security and public safety.  Appointee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is a TDP.

·        Travel in military or commercial aircraft may be required in the performance of temporary duty.
