The Agricultural Research Service is seeking qualified students to participate in the 2013 Summer Pathways Internship Program. These temporary appointments are expected to begin in May and end in September. Internships are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, trade school or other qualifying educational institution.
Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid.

Interns who are assigned to a GS-0399, Student Trainee (Clerical and Office Support) position assist professional and technical staff by performing miscellaneous clerical duties in support of the work of the office. Typical, but not all-inclusive duties are illustrated by performance of any combination of the following:
Opening and distributing mail; preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents
Maintaining office records; filing material; locating and compiling data or information from files
Answering and referring telephone calls
Typing a variety of material including draft reports, memoranda and correspondence using a personal computer and related word processing software

Applicants must be current students in an accreditated high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. You will be required to provide documentation to support your eligibility for the program. See the Required Documents section for details.
To qualify for the GS-02 grade level, applicants must have:
A. High school graduation (or equivalent)
B. 3 months of general experience performing clerical/office work
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying.
If qualifying all or in part based on your education, you must submit a copy of your academic transcripts OR a list of college courses with credit hours, dates completed, and grade point average or class ranking to verify education when applying for this position. If this information is not provided, your education may not be appropriately evaluated and you may lose consideration for this position. If you are selected for this position, you will have to provide an official copy of your transcripts prior to entering on duty.
Graduate education must be directly related to the work of the position and must have equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs to be acceptable for Federal employment.
