SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE - Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to teh GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service. Qualifying specialized experience includes nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility, or in such work as that of a home health aid performing duties such as:
- Providing personal nursing care such as providing pre-and post-operative care, observation of mental health patients, unstable diabetes, and respiratory insufficiency.
- Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures,
- Caring for patients with complicated medical problems.
- Alert registered nurse(s) of changes in vital signs, respiratory distress, and level of consciousness.
SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have successful completion of a Bachelor Degree PLUS 6 months of graduate education related to the position in an accredited community college, junior college or university in practical nursing or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position. TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires Heavy Lifting 45 pounds and over, Moderate lifting 15 to 44 pounds, heavy carrying, 45 pounds and over, pushing (2 hours); use of fingers; both hands required; both hands required; walking & standing 8 hours intermittently; repeated bending and climbing; both legs required; near vision correctable @ 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish shades of colors. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
