Federal employees with career or career-conditional appointments in the competitive service; DHHS/Food and Drug Administration, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. This position is located in the Office of Computational Science, Office Translational Sciences, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
The incumbent serves as a full deputy to the Director. He/she is delegated complete authority, in the absence of the Director, for all areas of responsibility assigned to the Director.
Represents the Office Director in conferences at Center and higher levels on computational science matters of major significance to the Agency.
Represents FDA at meetings of medical, scientific, and professional groups within and outside the Federal government with regard to regulation, policies, and evaluation of activities within his or her areas of responsibility.
Has major responsibility for management review of short and long-range plans and documents generated at the Staff level.
Reviews and evaluates proposed position papers reflecting the official viewpoint of the Office on computational science matters.
Assist the Director in the development and evaluation of the Office of Computational Science personnel. Participates in the selection of candidates for key positions and fosters professional development of OCS personnel. This includes reviewing and recommending action on training, travel requests of the professional staff and serving as liaison between other Offices of the Center in regard to professional development opportunities. Coordinates award recommendations for all Office staff through team members and supervisory staff.
